AMC 12 Scoring

The competitions are scored based on the number of questions answered correctly and the number of questions left blank. A student receives 6 points for each question answered correctly, 1.5 points for each question left blank, and 0 points for incorrect answers. Thus, a student who answers 24 correctly, leaves 1 blank, and misses 0 gets 24 × 6 + 1.5 × 1= 145.5 points. The maximum possible score is 25 × 6 = 150   points; in 2020, the AMC 12 had 18 perfect scores between its two administrations, and the AMC 10 also had 18.

Score reports will be emailed to CMs and added to CM’s AMC online accounts when answer sheets are scored. Note: If you do not receive your results via email within 30 days of administering the AMC 10/12A, please contact amcinfo@maa.org.

MAA AMC Study Guide / Books

There are many fine books to study. We suggest you start by looking through the Problem Books Section at the MAA Bookstore. Currently, the Contest Problem Books Volumes I – IX catalog all the American Mathematics Competition problems from 1950 to 2007, and these books are a good place to start.
